The sun-deck of Isidoros II Rigging and fenders, Isidoros II
Sat 8th July: Got a taxi into York and the train to Kings Cross. Walked to the Thameslink station, passing a dead black female lying in the gutter. Two police cars and an ambulance were attending. Got the train to Gatwick airport and the bus to the Moat House hotel. The restaurant was fully booked and I waited 45 minutes for an omelette in the bar.

Sun 9th: Got the hotel bus to Gatwick airport. The flight was only 30 minutes late and there was a tail wind to we arrived slightly early. Virgin food was excellent.

Met the group and took a minibus through Athens and out to Rafina. Took the ferry to Nea Styra. There were three nuns on the boat in black attire. They left in a Jeep Cherokee. Took taxis to Karystos and joined the boat. The cabins are so small it would be impossible with two, so it's a relief to have a cabin to myself. Had a good meal in a harbour side taverna. Lots of starters, lamb and watermelon.

Mon 10th: Relaxed breakfast on board, then sailed to Panagia islands to swim and snorkel from the boat.

Swam out to a beach. The water was crystal clear. Sailed on to Nea Styra, further than planned as it was a windy afternoon and would have been difficult to dock at Panagia. Had a swim then walked around Nea Styra. Mainly just a row of tavernas. Thanos organised taxis to take us to the old town of Styra where we walked around and had a drink before walking all the way back to Nea Styra. Had fish for dinner at a taverna at the very end of the town. Mosquitoes bit in the night.

Tue 11th: During breakfast we set sail and cruised up the coast for about an hour to Panagia. Swam from the boat across to the village beach. The boat was moored and we walked out of the village towards Mesochoria. A taxi took part of the group, then returned for the remainder. We met up in the village and had drinks and ice cream. Walked about 4km to Limnionas where we had lunch in a beachside taverna. They did an excellent omelette. Walked round to a secluded bay and swam and snorkelled for a couple of hours. Returned to Panagia by taxi.
