Marmari harbour Marmari harbour
Had a shower and walked along the sea front. Had a meal of the usual array of starters followed by huge chunks of beef, lamb and pork, with no vegetables except for a little tomato.

Wed 12th: Set sail while I was still in bed, for a three hour journey to Eritria. Walked into the town, then took a bus for about 15 minutes, then a taxi to the nunnery of St Nicholas, stopping for drinks at Vathia village. Had a long lecture from Thanos in the chapel which was covered in ancient frescos.

Castello Rosso
Returned to the boat with the intention of swimming in the afternoon but just dozed and read on the boat. Had a souflaki, beer and ice cream for dinner, on my own.

Thu 13th: Set sail before I got up, heading for Porto Lafia. After breakfast sunbathed on the top deck. Saw dolphins, at least three, about 100 yards from the boat. We turned round when we passed them, but although we got more sightings they stayed some way off and would not ride the bow wave.

Docking at Neastyra
Stopped at Niborio to swim, then continued to Porto Lafia, Had lunch on the boat, then I walked to a long beach and snorkelled at the far end. Returned to the boat, then walked the other way to a rocky area for more snorkelling. Lay in the shade as it was extremely hot. Returned to the boat for Coke and honey melon. Went to the only restaurant for lamb chop dinner.

Fri 14th: Woke with a headache and the boat was underway before I got up. It was windy and there was a slight swell, just enough to make me seasick, though only briefly.

Near Marmari
Had some breakfast, then sunbathed on the top deck. We stopped at a beautiful cove where the water was crystal clear. Snorkelled to the shore. Then sailed on to Marmari and had lunch in a taverna before walking round the bay to a sand spit featured on postcards all over Greece. I was joined by Amanda. There were only two other people on the beach. Walked further round to a cove with large rocks on the beach, also featured on the postcards. Ourse was already there and Amanda joined us. Swam and sunbathed all afternoon. Returned to the boat then wandered round the town taking a few photos. Had a group dinner then a beer with Ourse.

Sat 15th: Set sail for Karystos. Literally this time, as we stopped half way to put the sail up for photographs. Phillip went out in the dinghy with a video camera.

Donkey man
Arrived at Karystos and took taxis to Dimosari gorge where we walked up to some rock pools to bathe. Walked down to Lenosie where we had lunch, overlooking Kalliani beach. Took the taxis to Castello Rosso and walked around the castle ruins, then walked back to Karystos. Had an ice cream then walked around the town before the group dinner. Did a 'promenade' with Amanda and Ourse.
