Six Americans have left and been replaced with a Swiss couple and 3 elderly Australian women. Returned to the boat for an excellent lunch. Went to Sea-Lion Island, just west of San Cristóbal. The dinghy took us to a small beach with very shallow water and we snorkelled from there. 50 yards along the rocky shore there were two very playful sea-lions. They swam between Liam, Nick and myself for ages. I took about 20 photos and swam back to the beach exhausted. The water was colder than yesterday. Returned to the boat for a hot shower and tea.

Friendly sea-lions have come to play
Then went back to the island for a walk. There were lots a sea-lions on the island, including a massive bull. Saw lots of great frigatebirds on their nests, some with half-grown chicks. Also saw a yellow warbler which was very conspicuous on the black lava rocks of the shoreline. Returned to the boat. After dinner we set sail for Santa Cruz. Slept badly.

Mon 30th: Took the dinghy to Puerto Ayora, then a bus into the 'highlands'. Had a walk through scrubby woodland looking for giant tortoises. Saw four of them, all huge.
