Mont Blanc seen from Mont Joly
This was another mistake - I should have stayed on the top ridge back as far as Mont d'Arbois. The track I took disappeared after a while and I found myself walking through a meadow of wild flowers, though too tired to appreciate it by then. Once again I had difficulty finding my way into Megeve and got back to the apartment at 7pm, having walked for 10 hours. The sign posts here are intended for skiers and are totally useless if you are walking. They've named the ski-lifts after the mountains and the signs point to the ski-lifts, usually to the bottom of them, so signs to Mont d'Arbois actually take you to the bottom of the

Tue 22nd: There was a thunderstorm last night and some rain, so I was surprised to find clear blue skies this morning. Had a leisurely breakfast and walked into town to do some shopping. Set off at about 10:30 across the town to the base of the Jaillet cable-car. Walked up past the luge course and found the path up through the woods to the top of the cable car. Walked on, at first on a wide track and then back onto woodland paths, eventually reaching the Col du Jaillet.
