At the summit of Mont de Vores View towards Aig Croche
meadows with snow in patches and many boggy areas. Had lunch at a refuge where there was a French couple. Had a long conversation with him, but as his English was even worse than my French, neither of us knew what it was about. I then set off up Mont de Vorès (2067m) as it was nearby, before returning to the Col du Vèry track which led around the ridge. By this time it was after 3pm and I realised that it would be impossible to reach Aig Croche in the day. It would involve a long descent, then a long climb and I would have to return the same way. Took some photos of the ridge and the Mont Blanc range

The snow is melting fast

Sinking up to your knees in snow, wearing shorts, is not funny
from a new angle before turning back. Returned through the snowfields and muddy streams to Pre Rosset, then descended the ski-run to Lake Javen and returned to the apartment. Went out for dinner at the Prieuré, next to the church in the main square. It was expensive at €37 for a two course meal and a beer, but very good.

Thu 24th: Walked across town to the Jaillet area again, eventually finding my way up to le Christomat. Once again the erratic signposting led me on several false trails. It was warmer today and the steep climb exhausted me.

When the snow recedes, crocuses appear Pre Rosset
