Day 4: Solitaire - a place named after a dead tree. The cafe does an excellent apple crumble. Male ostrich. The female is brown.
Then went to Elim dune to watch the sunset. Had beer and snacks on the dune. Returned to camp for another good dinner.

Wed 18th: Just after leaving the camp we saw an African Wild Cat cross the road and disappear into the grass. We drove across an increasingly barren landscape to Solitaire, where we had drinks and apple crumble, which was excellent. Drove over the Kuseb Pass with strange mica rock formations, and then into a vast totally barren moonscape area.

Flamingos at Walvis Bay
Stopped to take photos. Continued to Walvis Bay where we watched the flamingos and had lunch. Then went to Swakopmund and checked in to 'chalets'. Had Oryx for dinner at Kucki's restaurant.

Thu 19th: Bacon and egg breakfast in the hotel, then walked around Swakopmund for a while before going to the airport for a two hour flight over the Namib Desert. Flew over Sossusvlei dunes and Sesriem canyon, then along the coast which was still shrouded in fog. Saw wrecks along the shore.
