Day 6: Hentiesbaai. The best toys are the ones you make yourself.
Returned to the town for lunch, then went out into the dunes for some quad-biking. I found the six gears rather difficult but eventually got the hang of it and tore round the dunes at breakneck speed. Had crocodile tail for dinner at Kucki's restaurant.

Fri 20th: Drove out into the desert and stopped to look at lichen which survives on the morning mist. Drove on to Hentiesbaai and stopped for fuel and drinks.

A little boy had a toy car made from wire and coke cans. The steering really worked. Continued to Cape Cross seal colony where thousands of seals were lying on the rocks., diving into the water and fighting amongst themselves. Four jackals were also lurking around. Had lunch further down the coast, clear of the smell. Camped in a wild bush camp at the foot of the Brandberg mountains. Three local guides appeared in the evening and sang terribly.
Cape Cross seal colony. 80,000 Cape fur seals live here, rising to 200,000 during the breeding season (Nov/Dec).
