Camping in the Serengeti. 'Night-night and don't let the lions bite' Bull elephant in Ngorongoro Crater
Wed 13th: Packed up and drove to the rim of Ngorongoro crater where the view was spectacular. Saw zebras and an elephant at the roadside. Drove on to the Serengeti and across the dry grass plains. Saw giraffe, wildebeest, impala, grants gazelle. Stopped for lunch at Olduvai gorge and looked round the museum. Photographed the birds that came to drink from our hand washing bowls. Stopped at the official entry point for the Serengeti where there were lost of superb starlings. Continued on, seeing a large flock of ostriches, secretary birds, warthog, buffalo, Thompson's gazelle, hartebeest, hippos, two lions asleep under a tree and a family of lions with cubs.

Campsite with no running water and no perimeter fence to keep out animals. Had a quiet night.

Thu 14th: Set off at 6:15 for a game drive. Within 5 minutes we saw a leopard walking along the river bank. Further on were two lionesses wandering down the road. They walked right past the truck. Next we saw a cheetah standing on a termite mound, with three cubs alongside. She moved off and headed towards a curve in the road, so we moved forward.
