Mangrove forests of Musha Island. Heron fishing in the shallows.
After dark, huge numbers of fish were attracted to the lights of the boat and gulls were flying past, catching the fish. Also saw a large squid alongside the boat. The cabin was very hot, humid and noisy from the air conditioning.

Sun 7th: Had an excursion in the dinghy out to the mangrove swamps. Saw lots of gulls, egrets and herons. The light was nice and in places the colour of the water and the sky were the same, so there was no visible horizon.

In Tadjoura there are goats everywhere.
Later in the morning we went snorkelling. Saw a large moray eel, lots of parrot fish and a great variety of other reef fishes. Returned to the boat for an excellent lunch. In the afternoon the crew put up the sails and we went out in the dinghy to take photographs. Cruised under sail and engine to Tadjoura, mooring by a beach with a reef in front. Snorkelled over the reef. Saw lion fish, surgeon fish and another huge moray eel.

Guest 'tukul' near the Foret du Day.
A Tadjoura sidestreet, with goats.

The once verdant Foret du Day is now dying.
Only the strangler fig is growing well, destroying its host tree.
